StackSense ("we", "our", or "the extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains our data practices for the StackSense Chrome extension.

Data Collection

StackSense does not collect any user data.

Specifically, we do NOT collect:

• Browsing history or web activity
• Website content beyond temporary analysis

• Authentication credentials or passwords

How the Extension Works

StackSense operates entirely within your browser using the following process:

1. User Activation: The extension only runs when you explicitly click the StackSense icon in your browser toolbar.
2. Local Analysis: When activated, the extension reads the HTML content of the currently active webpage.
3. Pattern Matching: The HTML is analyzed locally in your browser to identify technology signatures (framework identifiers, platform markers, etc.).
4. Display Results: Detected technologies are displayed in the extension popup.
5. No Storage: No data is stored, cached, or retained. The HTML is analyzed once and immediately discarded.

Permissions

StackSense requires the following Chrome permissions to function:

activeTab

This permission allows the extension to read the HTML content of the webpage you're currently viewing, but only when you click the extension icon. This is necessary to detect which technologies were used to build the website.

scripting

This permission enables the extension to execute a simple script that retrieves the HTML structure of the active tab. This script does not modify the page or collect personal information.

Data Sharing

We do not share any data with third parties because we do not collect any data.

• No data is transmitted to external servers
• No data is sold or transferred to third parties
• No analytics or tracking services are used
• No advertisements are displayed

Data Storage

StackSense does not store any data.

The extension does not use:

• Local storage
• Session storage
• Cookies
• IndexedDB
• File system storage
• Remote servers or databases

Third-Party Services

StackSense does not integrate with or use any third-party services, APIs, or analytics platforms. The extension operates entirely offline within your browser.

Security

Since StackSense does not collect, store, or transmit any user data, there is no user data at risk of security breaches. All analysis happens locally in your browser's secure sandbox environment.

Children's Privacy

StackSense does not knowingly collect information from children or anyone else, as we do not collect any data at all.

Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Since we don't collect contact information, we cannot notify users directly of changes.

Open Source

StackSense is open source. You can review the source code to verify our privacy claims and see exactly how the extension works.
